Mantra Meditation: A Step-By-Step Guide for How to Practice
Many of you are aware that meditation is a practice that if performed and practiced daily, brings in endless benefits and mindfulness into your health and well-being. Maybe you have tried meditating but left it, maybe you did not get the time start it.
Now is the time to start reflecting on what should be a priority. Our mental well-being is very important to keep negativity and stress at bay. There are plenty of meditation practices you can opt for but let us talk about mantra meditation and how to practice it. Read till the end to know how mantra meditation can be done.
How to Perform Mantra Meditation?
So, you have started with the meditation but don’t know the exact process on how to practice it? Well, this is why we are here to guide in the simplest way. Here are a few steps if followed daily can really change your life and make room for compassion, stress-free life, better sleep, more positive vibes, be more mindful, and so much more.
Step 1: What Is Your Purpose Or Goal For Mantra Meditation?
Choosing a mantra for your meditation is easy. Pay attention to what and why are you practicing this and choose your mantra accordingly. Your mantra can be a word or a phrase like “Om”, “So Hum”, “Peace”, and “Love” etc. These are some of the common ones that are used, but you can choose your own and repeat it for however long you plan to meditate.
Step 2: Find Your Comfort
Choose a place that is quiet and comfortable. You can opt for any posture you like. You could sit on the floor, or lie on the yoga mat or sit with cushions. The goal and main aim of this is to be comfortable and alert. Any room or area can be your spot as long as you are comfortable
Step 3: Mindful Breathing Is Important
Inhaling and exhaling slowly and watching your breathing pattern is important to bring in concentration. Breathing mindfully helps you stay relaxed and calm.
Step 4: Start Your Mantras
Repeat your mantras while you breathe mindfully. If it does not correlate with your breath, don’t stress on it. Let your breathing and mantras fall in its own pace gradually.
Step 5: Thoughts Will Occur
You are aware of your goals and troubles too, don’t force yourself to stop thinking about them or any thoughts that come into your mind. Simply continue with the meditation if you drift from it.
Step 6: The Closing Session
After you have meditated for however long, stop repeating your mantra and in which ever position you are, close your eyes. Spend some time here and relax. Don’t abruptly end your meditation and get up or look at your phone.

If you are a beginner, start with a short duration. As you grow into the practice you will automatically increase the duration from 5 minutes to 20 or 30 minutes. The fact that you have started meditating itself will help you in various ways. Either start your day with meditation or end it with meditation. There are many people who choose their own specific time due to their busy schedules.
